Privacy policy

This policy covers drapeanddawn.com, published by Janet Media Group. It explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be impenetrable.

If you use the contact form or email us directly, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you write in the message. That information is used to reply to you and for nothing else. It is not added to a mailing list, not sold, and not shared with any third party for marketing.

Messages are delivered by email through Microsoft’s Graph API and stored in the site owner’s mailbox. If you would like a message you sent deleted, email janet.hoyo@yahoo.com and say so.

To reduce automated spam the contact form checks a hidden field that real visitors never fill in, measures how long the form was open before submission, and limits the number of submissions from a single IP address per hour. Your IP address is used for that check in memory and is not stored in a database or used to identify you.

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It records things like the page viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device type, browser and referring site. It also records when a buy link is clicked, so we can see which recommendations people find useful.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser. You can block them with your browser’s settings, with an extension, or with Google’s own opt-out add-on. Nothing on this site requires cookies to work.

Product links on this site pass through a redirect at /go/ on this domain, which adds our Amazon Associates tag and forwards you to the retailer. The redirect does not store anything about you; the tag is what lets the retailer attribute a purchase to this site so we earn a commission.

Once you land on the retailer’s site you are subject to their privacy policy and their cookies, not ours. Amazon in particular sets its own cookies to track referrals. Full detail on the commercial arrangement is on the affiliate disclosure page.

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and operational purposes. Those logs are retained by Vercel under their own policies and are not used by us for analytics or profiling.

• No account system — there is nothing to register for and no password stored.
• No newsletter list, so no email addresses are kept beyond replying to your message.
• No advertising network cookies and no retargeting pixels.
• No payment information of any kind — we do not sell anything and cannot take payment.
• No selling or sharing of personal data with third parties.

You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email janet.hoyo@yahoo.com. In practice the only information tied to an identifiable person is the contents of an email or contact-form message you sent us, and we will delete it on request.

This site is intended for adults making decisions about their own homes and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made silently.
